As soon as summer rolls around again, it will be time to hit the vineyards of some of the top wineries in British Columbia, specifically Canada’s Okanagan Valley. This area is known for its hundreds of wineries, ripe orchards full of peaches and apples, and Lake Okanagan which is the perfect place to spend a summer afternoon. There are two wineries that every visitor must head to, both for the wine and the scenery.

Mission Hill Winery

Mission Hill is the best of the best when it comes to the Okanagan region. Not only are the wines aged to perfection, but the winery itself is a work of art. It was designed by Tom Kundig to have the feel of a monastery about it, with an inner courtyard, amphitheater, and surrounding outbuildings. Each wine is superb, but if you have the chance try the Oculus, you won’t be disappointed.

Quail’s Gate Winery

Another excellent winery, which features a lovely shaded restaurant is Quail’s Gate. This winery has a magnificent view of Lake Okanagan and is designed with picnickers in mind. You can do a wine tasting, purchase a bottle of wine, and head over to one of the many picnic tables to enjoy a glass while looking over the water and the vines.
