While Scandinavia officially covers the three kingdoms of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, in English usage, it also includes the Scandinavian Peninsula, which adds on Finland and Iceland to create the colloquially termed Nordic countries.

This region is the northernmost in Europe and is known to be very pleasant with a high quality of living, yet surely very cold. The harsh climate doesn’t seem to get too much in the way of the Nordic peoples’ lifestyles, but instead actually augments it with concepts such as Danish hygge, which encompasses decor and practices that can create a supremely cozy and warming atmosphere.
