The Wilds is the latest Amazon series everyone is talking about, but its premise and the amazing young cast aren’t the only things that caught our eye. The filming locations in this teen drama are truly stunning, which isn’t much of a surprise since it was filmed in New Zealand.

The Wilds centers on a group of teens who find themselves stranded on a deserted island after their plane heading to Hawaii crashes in the middle of nowhere. The series, however, wasn’t filmed in Hawaii, and various locations across Auckland in New Zealand served as the setting.

Piha Beach

New Zealand is well-known for its black sand beaches, and one of them was heavily featured in The Wilds. Piha Beach, located around 40 kilometers west of Auckland, served as an amazing backdrop for this intriguing series and the iconic Lion Rock formation was visible in several scenes throughout the show.

Bethells Beach

According to IMDb, some of the scenes were filmed on Bethells Beach, another popular day-trip spot near Auckland. A couple of locations around the city were featured in the flashback scenes taking place before the girls got stuck on the island, including the West Wave Pool, Karaka Lakes Park, and the Auckland Girls’ Grammar School in Newton.
