How to Pack Well for Cold Weather

If you’re heading on a trip to somewhere cold, there is so much more to think about than packing for a sunny beach holiday. You need to prioritize practicality to avoid ruining your time with shivering and teeth chattering.

Remember Under-Layers

It can be easy to think solely of the warm outer layers when concerned about the cold. However, consider the joys of having a long-sleeved top, some knee-high socks, or some thermal leggings. As well as these being a great option for warmth, they also pack up easier than big layers.

Think About Your Extremities

You might think you don’t feel the cold so much, and while this may be true, your hands and feet may disagree. Ensure these are well protected with proper gear, such as insulated gloves and wool socks. Not only will this feel less painful at the time, but you also reduce the risk of chilblains and other uncomfortable scenarios.

Be Sensible with Footwear

It’s always tempting to choose the cutest pair of shoes to bring on a trip, but in cold weather, this isn’t a great idea. Make sure your shoes have good grip for icy conditions, and won’t let in any moisture.
