Dallas, Texas, usually doesn’t give off an “artistic” vibe, but the fact is that the city actually has more than a few museums where you can find some amazing art. Check out the best of them below.
Dallas Museum of Art
Dallas Museum of Art has a long history, being founded in 1903. The museum has more than 24,000 objects of art in its collection, originating in regions of Asia, Africa, America, and Europe and ranging from the ancient period to the present. Some of the more notable artworks on display include Jean-Baptiste Marie Pierre’s “The Abduction of Europe,” Edgar Degas’ “The Masseuse,” and Paul Gauguin’s “I Raro te Oviri.”
Nasher Sculpture Center
Nasher Sculpture Center is dedicated to the sculpture collection by art collectors Patsy and Raymond Nasher. The museum features indoor and outdoor exhibit spaces that house mostly modern and contemporary sculpture pieces. The list of notable artists that are part of Nasher’s collection includes Willem de Kooning, Mark di Suvero, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Henry Moore, Pablo Picasso, and Auguste Rodin.
Meadows Museum
Meadows Museum is known for its impressive collection of Spanish art, considered the largest and most comprehensive outside of Spain. The museum houses paintings by El Greco, Diego Velázquez, Francisco Goya, Salvador Dalí, and Pablo Picasso, as well as a smaller number of American and European artists. Its sculpture collection is also worth checking out, thanks to Rodin, Aristide Maillol, and Henry Moore.
