]]>There are many great sites to see in this city, including the Plaza 25 de Mayo which is the main square of the city. Not only is it the main meeting place in the city, but it’s also home to famous buildings like the Cathedral and Casa de La Libertad. Go inside the 16th-century cathedral and see the beautiful artwork and check out the Casa de La Libertad where Bolivia first got its independence from Spain.
When you go to the plaza, you’ll see all sorts of people and vendors, and you might even catch a little theatrical performance if you’re lucky! Don’t miss out on the food vendors you’ll see in the plaza because they sell some super delicious bites.

The Kremlin is a citadel that holds 5 different palaces, four cathedrals, Kremlin Towers, and the Grand Kremlin Palace which is where the former czars lived. Now, it is the official home of Vladimir Putin.
Red Square and St. Basil’s Cathedral is another must-see site, and it’s probably the site most well recognized by people even if you haven’t been to Moscow. St. Basils’ Cathedral is an enormous colorful and ornate building on the square and was built in the mid 16th century. Red Square is the true center of Moscow and it is so amazing to witness it in real life.
An unusual activity to do in Moscow which is not known by many is to experience a traditional Russian sauna and bathhouse called a banya. There are tons of banyas all over the city, but if you want to experience the oldest one in Moscow, go to Sanduny banya. This bathhouse has been around since 1808, and even if you don’t want to actually have a banya experience, you can take a tour of the beautiful building, which is just as fun.
You can’t go to Moscow without picking up a souvenir, and the best place to get one is at Izmailovsky market. This flea market is the perfect place to find a treasure to take home, including gorgeous artisan Russian nesting dolls called matryoshki.
Though there are many fabulous museums in Moscow, one of the most important ones to go to is the GULAG History State Museum, which commemorates the GULAG labor camp victims during Stalin’s dictatorship. Being there really makes you feel like you’ve gone back in time, which is heartbreaking but important to learn about.
Russian cuisine was really affected by food rationing and other political measures during the communist ruling, and even before. But, there’s one restaurant that takes Russian food to the next level by looking to the humble farming past to create a stunning culinary experience. White Rabbit is a restaurant located in a glass dome, is one of the top 20 restaurants in the world, and serves traditional Russian food with a modern twist, using only what’s available locally and in season.
Everyone knows about the Russian cabbage soup called borscht, and although it usually doesn’t seem appealing, if you go to the right place in Moscow, you’ll be a believer. One place you cannot go wrong for borscht and other Russian classics is Dacha Na Pokrovke, where anything you get will de delicious and fresh.

]]>There are a few things you should know about Laos before you go. While there are many lakes, rivers, and waterfalls that you should definitely visit, if you’re a woman, you shouldn’t expect to hang out in a bikini. The best thing to do is to cover yourself with a sarong for getting in and out of the water.
Also, you will see a lot of monks in Laos, and might even share a tuk-tuk with one! But if you’re a woman, make sure never to touch them or even brush their robes as that can be very disrespectful.
If you go nowhere else in Laos, the Kuang Si Falls has to be your one destination just for the insane beauty of it. This waterfall has a drop of 50 meters, and the water is a type of blue so crazy you’ll think it’s fake.
Blue Lagoon is more popular with tourists and also boasts beautiful waters, but if you want to be a bit different and have an amazing experience, opt for Kuang Si Falls.
About 30 kilometers from the falls is an ancient city called Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Within the city is an incredibly steep hill Mount Phousi, which is 100 meters tall. Even though it definitely is a physical challenge to get to the top, on the way you can visit some temples to catch your breath. At the top of the hill, you’ll be able to see the Mekong River like never before, and the views are certainly worth the climb.
Vat Phou is another UNESCO World Heritage Site, and are the ruins of a Hindu temple dated back to the 5th century. Although it’s in ruins, there are a lot of different alters and inscriptions that can be easily seen, and it’s also just in a very beautiful place in and of itself.
Vientiane is the capital of Laos, and there are plenty of things to do there that are definitely unexpected for being a large city. One of those things is the Buddha Park, which is located right in the city. The park is a cross between a regular park and a sculpture garden, as it hosts 200 different religious sculptures from both Hinduism and Buddhism. Most of the pieces are over 40 meters high, and it is really something you cannot find anywhere else in the world. Best of all, you can picnic right next to these beautiful and spiritual sculptures!
Another incredible experience to have in Vientiane is to go to the Wat Sok Pa Luang Temple and meditate with the monks! It happens every Saturday for English speakers and is an experience anyone would be lucky to have.
