The Staten Island Ferry is the free ferry service that goes between the borough of Staten Island and Manhatten. A lot of people take it to go to and from work and home, but it’s also a really fun touristic attraction if you’re in the know! One of the best things about the Staten Island Ferry is that you get to see a national treasure for free.

As you go across the New York Harbor to Staten Island, you can’t miss seeing lady liberty along the way! Seeing the Statue of Liberty is such an amazing experience, and no matter how cliche it is, seeing it up close and personal like that is an experience nothing can top.

Once you do get to Staten Island, you can turn right around and go back to Manhattan. Or, if you’re visiting during the summer months, you can stay on the island and take an easy bus to one of the beaches. The easiest one to get to is called South Beach, and all you have to do is take the S81 or the S51 bus, which are both right outside the ferry station, and it will drop you off across from the beach! What a unique and fun way to spend a day in New York!
