Guatemala is home to many breathtaking volcanoes, and some of them are extremely popular with hikers exploring this country. Here’s a couple you should check out if you’re planning to embark on an unforgettable volcano hike in this country.

Acatenango

Acatenango is one of Guatemala’s most massive volcanoes with hiking trails. It’s extremely challenging to climb because you have to go through several different ecosystems on your way to the top, but that’s exactly why passionate hikers love it so much.

Pacaya

Just like Acatenango, this volcano is located in close proximity to the city of Antigua. The fact that this volcano isn’t entirely dormant isn’t stopping hikers from exploring it on a daily basis, and many enjoy using the heat of the volcanic rocks to roast marshmallows and mushrooms.

Tajumulco

Tajumulco is the highest mountain in Central America, and its height and the lack of eruptive activity make it extremely popular with hikers. It takes a couple of hours to get to the top and the trail is clearly marked, however, it is a foggy area which can be an issue for hikers.
