Don’t Skip These Cuban Classics in Little Havana

Little Havana, one of the most well-known and recognizable neighborhoods of Miami, Florida, is not only a fantastic tapestry of Latin influences but is also one of the top places in the entire United States to eat.

Those of you who are lucky enough to have visited Little Havana are sure to have tried plenty of tasty dishes during your time there. If you have a trip to Miami on your agenda, be sure to make a stop in Little Havana and try these things!

Cuban Sandwich

A Cuban sandwich actually has its origins in South Florida, when restaurants began to offer up a new sandwich to Cuban immigrant workers in the region’s cigar factories. Still beloved today, this sandwich combines ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles and served warm.

Empanadas

Originating in the Spanish region of Galicia, Cuban emigrants from this area put their own twist on this delicious food item which contains meat, cheese, and/or veggie-based put inside a piece of fried dough. Often served with pork, cheese, beans, and onions, these are common and a perfect snack.

Cuban Coffee

Do you like your coffee strong and sweet? If so, you will definitely have to stop at one of Little Havana’s many cafes to try a Cuban coffee. This drink combines strong, dark roast espresso with a bit of brown cane sugar to create the perfect jump-start to your morning.
