When travel returns back to normal, one place you need to visit is Via del Governo Vecchio in Rome, Italy. Translated into the “street of the old government”, this street has everything you could ever want from Rome in just 450 meters (about a third of a mile), just a few steps from Piazza Navona. Between the best pizza and gelato spots, the lively aperitivo bars, and vintage shops, Via del Governo Vecchio has it all, and here’s how to spend the day visiting the street.

Start your day in the afternoon around 4 p.m. by visiting the vintage shops like Omero e Cecilia and Michele Abiti Usati, where you’ll sift through clothes and accessories. If you’re lucky, you may even find some designer items mixed in. Across the street, you’ll find Altroquando, a book shop, with books in Italian and a pub in the basement.

Once you’ve finished shopping, get ready for aperitivo time, which can be described as American happy hour. Head to Cul de Sac, a wine bar, that has 1,500 vintages available or the more laidback Enoteca Il Piccolo. Stick to drinks and snacks at these places, before heading to Pizzeria Da Baffetto, which has the best pizza in Rome and has been frequented by many celebrities. After you’ve enjoyed the pizza, end your night with dessert by going next door to Frigidarium, which ranks as one of the top gelaterias in Rome.
