While most people stay at hotels for luxury and relaxation, some people want a different type of experience. They prefer to spend the night in haunted hotels with legendary ghosts and spooky figures. These five hot hotels are perfect for those who don’t scare easily and aren’t afraid to share the room with others. Check out these three haunted hotels in the United States.

The Stanley Hotel, Colorado

Often regarded as the most “spirited” hotel in America and best known as the inspiration for Stephen King’s The Shining, The Stanley was built in 1909 and has several ghost tours where guests can visit the underground tunnel beneath the hotel. The hotel’s original owner, F.O. Stanley is known to haunt the hotel with his wife and visitors say you can hear piano music and laughs in the hotel.

Omni Mount Washington Resort, New Hampshire

The hotel was built in 1902 with special accommodations for Caroline Foster, whose husband was railroad tycoon Joseph Stickney. Guests still report seeing Caroline wearing a Victorian dress. There are also taps on doors when no one is outside and things disappear often.

Malaga Inn, Alabama

Considered to be the most haunted hotel in Alabama, Malaga Inn is deep in the south and reminiscent of the Civil War Era. The historic property has two townhouses constructed by two brothers-in-law as a wedding gift for the two sisters of the family and rumor has it they never left.
