Brazil is a South American country known for its warm, sunny weather and beautiful beaches.

Fortunately, you don’t even have to travel outside of major cities to enjoy the beaches of this country. Here are our picks for the top five Brazilian city beaches.

Ipanema Beach: Rio de Janeiro

This beach is one of the most famous in the country and is located smack-dab in the middle of Rio.  It has golden sand and can even be used for surfing in the winter.

Joaquina Beach: Florianopolis

Joaquina Beach, in the southern city of Florianopolis, is a great place to catch rays and enjoy pure, clean, white sand. Despite being in a city, its large size and amount of space makes it calm and tranquil.

Pina Beach: Recife

In Recife, you can find Pina Beach. Its calm, warm waters make it an ideal location for swimming. There are also places to buy street food and Brazilian drinks like caipirinha.

Ponta Negra Beach: Natal

Ponta Negra Beach in Natal is a favorite for the city’s residents. The Morro do Careca dune on its far southern end is a landmark of the city. Natal’s tropical climate makes this beach a perfect place to relax.

Copacabana Beach: Rio de Janeiro
