The Galápagos Islands are part of the Republic of Ecuador and are located in the Pacific Ocean, about 1,000 kilometers off the Equators western coast. The island chain is isolated, and is the home to many plant and animal species which can’t be found anywhere else in the world.

If you ever travel to this jewel, be prepared to encounter animals like the giant tortoise, penguins, sea lions, and Bottlenose dolphins. In addition, many unique bird species, such as the blue-footed bobby, live in the archipelago.

Due to its location, the Mother Nature rewarded the Galápagos Islands with a stunningly beautiful nature as well, which wildlife has been listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978.

As far as the landscapes go, due to the fascinating weather, they are varying from island to island; there is a total of 21. Both tropical rain forests and deserts can be found in the archipelago.

If you are, however, more of a city person, a quick trip to the capital city, Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, located on the southwestern coast of San Cristóbal Canton, is a must for you.
