Maybe it’s the second largest city in the Netherlands, but it’s definitely number one in a lot of people’s hearts.

Rotterdam is one of those cities that make you feel like you belong there. People are kind, the food is great and everything is clean and organized. Well, if you ever go there (and please do), here are three things that you have to see to fully experience Rotterdam’s charm.

The Martkthal

An entirely covered market with astonishing architecture, Markthal is one of the most popular places in Rotterdam.  Its unique design and the murals on the arched ceiling mean this place will make you want to stay there for days.

The Cube Houses (Kubuswoningen)

You think you’ve seen it all? You should think twice. Rotterdam is famous for its modern architecture, but this is a new level of creativity. The Cube Houses (Kubuswoningen) were designed by the architect Piett Bloom and present a real architectural gem.

Kinderdijk’s  Windmills

Just 23 kilometers from Rotterdam on the river Noors, you will come across a lovely little village that will fill your heart with peace. Here you will find 19 windmills that are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. All of these beautiful windmills have been restored and very well preserved.
