The U.S. state of Arizona is full of wonders that can be experienced on day trips from the state’s capital and largest city, Phoenix. While the Valley of the Sun also gives you plenty of things to do, getting away from the city and experiencing Arizona’s natural beauty is also a must. Check out these three destinations that will allow you to see the best that Arizona has to offer.

Sedona

The small town of Sedona, just a couple of hours north of Phoenix, is best known for its stunning landscape. Red rocks rise high above the desert floor between buttes and canyon walls, with the surrounding area having lots of hiking trails that will let you explore.

Grand Canyon National Park

The most famous sight in all of Arizona is the Grand Canyon, and it too is accessible from Phoenix as a day trip option if you are just looking to see the canyon and maybe do a short hike. Take I-17 North from Phoenix, hop on I-40 West, and then exit onto Highway 64 which will take you north to the park.

Saguaro National Park

There is nothing more quintessentially Arizona than cacti, and Saguaro National Park is the best place to see massive versions of this plant. Near the city of Tucson an hour and a half south of the city, you can hike over 165 miles of trails and also go on paved roads if you want to see the sights from your car.
