Amsterdam, the Netherlands is a great place to have a sweet tooth. The number of delicious desserts offered in this city will have your mouth watering in about two seconds after walking past a bakery on the street. If you’re planning to visit Amsterdam, here are some desserts you must try while you’re there!

Oliebollen

Literally translated to “oil balls”, Oliebollen are essentially mini doughnut balls. This dessert is deep-fried, often filled with raisins, and of course, dusted with powdered sugar. You won’t be able to get enough!

Dutch Stroopwafel

Dutch stroopwafel is without a doubt one of the most famous desserts in Amsterdam. Spiced caramel syrup sandwiched between two Dutch cookies (that look like mini waffles) is such a perfect combination. We highly recommend you try them out while you’re there.

Poffertjes

Okay, fine…these aren’t technically a dessert, but they seriously taste like it! It doesn’t get much better than mini, puffy pancakes dusted in powdered sugar. You can get poffertjes at pretty much any pancake house in Amsterdam or even from a street vendor.

Appeltaart

Appeltaart is the Dutch version of apple pie and it might just be the original apple pie! Almost every restaurant in Amsterdam offers Appeltaart on their dessert menu, and it’s clear why.

Greece has something to offer to every kind of walker—from well-seasoned hikers to those who just want to enjoy a leisurely stroll in a beautiful natural setting. Here are a few of Greece’s best hike trails.

Delphi to Kirra Walk, Central Greece

This hike is 14km long but don’t be daunted, all of it is downhill. Follow a centuries-old path starting at Delphi, where you can find a few UNESCO monuments, to the ancient port of Kirra.

Hike to the Tomb of Kleoboulos, Rhodes

This easy and enjoyable 5km round-trip hike takes about two hours to complete. The trail starts just above the main beach and ends at an ancient tomb, which is fascinating to see but does not actually belong to Kleoboulos. The circular tomb was built during the second century BC, long after Kleoboulos ruled Greece.

Menalon Trail, Peloponnese

For the hikers who love a challenge, the 75km Manalon Trail stretches from Stemnitsa to Lagkadia on the Peloponnese peninsula. It is divided into 8 sections of varying difficulty. If you’re looking for a day hike the Stemnitsa–Dimitsan part is the most popular one.

Melinda–Paleohori Trail, Lesvos

This path may be only 1.2km long, but it is incredibly beautiful. It follows the Selandes River then ascends to Paleohori beach, and ends at the village’s olive press.

Ethiopia is definitely one of the most fascinating countries in all of Africa. Located at the divergence point of two tectonic plates, the Nubian and the Somai Plates, this country of 105 million people has a rich natural wealth in addition to its incredible history and cultural traits.

If you are looking to escape to nature during your Ethiopian vacation, you should keep these stunning national parks in mind.

Simien Mountains National Park

Ethiopia is a very mountainous country, and one of the most spectacular mountainous regions can be found in this park in northern Ethiopia. The gelada baboon, which only lives in this rocky and craggy area, can often be found roaming freely near hiking trails and represents the natural diversity found in the Simien Mountains.

Bale Mountains National Park

Another mountainous national park that you should definitely check out in Ethiopia is the Bale Mountains. The craggy, volcanic mountains of the park contrast sharply with the Sanetti Plateau which has been flattened by glaciers. Large mammals such as the Ethiopian wolf abound in this area.

Nechisar National Park

An arid plain dominates the Nechisar National Park, which is sandwiched between Abaya Lake and Chamo Lake. Crocodiles can be found in Chamo Lake’s placid waters, whereas animals such as zebras dominate the dry landscape between the lakes in this natural protected area.

It is no coincidence that Cincinnati has come to be known as the “Pearl of the West”. The city lies in the wide basin on the north of the Ohio River, surrounded by hills. Besides the beautiful location, Cincinnati bubbles with unique culture and character. Here are a few spots you shouldn’t miss when visiting Cincinnati.

Smale Riverfront Park

Smale Riverfront Park connects downtown Cincinnati with the Ohio River. It is attached to the bustling food district The Banks, making it the perfect fusion of calm nature surroundings and a bubbly city atmosphere.

Great American Ball Park

Cincinnati is known as a baseball city, and the Great American Ball Park, home to the Cincinnati Reds, is a must-see. The season starts in April with a massive opening-day parade and outdoor festival.

Findlay Market

Findlay Market boasts more than 50 full-time stalls in its enclosed and open-air space. Local vendors sell everything from an amazing array of foods to homemade soaps and beeswax candles.

Brewing Heritage Trail

The Brewing Heritage Trail follows in the footsteps of Cincinnati’s early German settlers, and it’s one of the best ways to learn about and experience the city’s history. Beneath the trail, there is a maze of former beer cellars, which you can visit.
