Slovenia is often neglected as a tourist destination, but this Central European country is a hidden gem filled with incredible natural landmarks. Lake Bled is a must-see site if you’re nearby — it’s located in the heart of the Julian Alps and offers a view of breathtaking scenery reflecting in the crystal clear water.

In the middle of the lake, there’s a small island that you can reach by boat. It was once a temple of the pagan goddess of love Živa but was later replaced with the Assumption of Mary Church.

The lake is surrounded by forests of Julian Alps. You can enjoy long walks and even rent a horse carriage for a fairy-tale ride.
