Although it’s a lesser-known Spanish city, Ronda is still well-worth visiting if you’re going to be traveling in Spain or around Europe. Here are just some of the reasons why you’ll want to add it to your itinerary.

The Bridge

Perhaps the thing Ronda is best known for, the 18th century Puente Nuevo (new bridge) spans a 100-meter chasm over a gorge. You only have to see photos of it to see why it’s so special, as it’s truly shocking that this bridge, whose original structure crumbled after only a few years, still stands today.

The Hiking

Not only can you hike out to see Puente Nuevo, but you can also do lots of other hikes in Ronda that will give you lots to look at. Since the city is situated above a canyon that flows through a river, there is no shortage of opportunities for hiking and rock climbing.

The Streets and Gardens

There’s no better city to get lost in than Ronda, with its winding streets and white houses giving you plenty to marvel at. You can also follow the cobblestones to La Casa del Rey Moro, which has beautiful hanging gardens filled with Moorish architecture, a fish pond, and even peacocks!
