Pros and Cons of Traveling With Hand Luggage

Traveling with hand luggage only is a tempting option, especially if you’ve ever lost your checked bag or if you missed a connecting flight because you had to wait at the carousel. There are definitely pros and cons to traveling with one small bag and here are some of them.

Pro: It’s Cheaper

Your flight will be cheaper if you don’t have to add luggage, which is especially handy for short, budget flights where the price of luggage can easily double the ticket price.

Pro: Quicker Check-In

The queues for baggage check-in can be long and you can just skip them if you don’t have anything to check-in. Also, once you’re out of the plane, you don’t have to wait at the carousel to pick up your stuff, risking they never appear.

Con: Harder Packing

Learning how to pack minimally is a skill that you can upgrade over time, but it can be really difficult at first. Always consider if you’re going to buy something at your destination and leave the room for it in the bag.

Con: No Room for Photography Equipment

If you’re into photography and want to keep the travel memories with your forever, you can’t really pack all the camera bodies and lens in hand luggage. It’s only possible for a short trip at best.
