  • Flavian Amphitheater is the original name of the Colosseum. It was called that because it was built during the rule of Emperor Vespasian.
  • Even though Emperor Vespasian is responsible for the Colosseum, he never managed to see the public opening.  Instead, it was his son Titus who had the honor of opening the Colosseum with 100 days of games.
  • There was a lot going on under the stage. The gladiators along with the animals would wait under the floor until it’s their turn to fight. There were over 30 trap doors that were used during battles to surprise the opponent and this amazing section is now open for the public eyes.
