The Lake District is a national park in the North West of England. It’s famous for its mass of lakes dotted throughout the stunning countryside and makes for the perfect place for a relaxing and invigorating vacation. Here are just a few of the many reasons that you should add it to your list of planned destinations.

The Lakes

This kind of goes without saying, but the beauty and serenity of the lakes here have to be experienced to truly understand it. Whether you’re walking around the immense and popular Windermere, or have found a small lake off the beaten track, there are more than enough beautiful natural bodies of water to explore.

The Hills

As incredible as the lakes themselves are, they would be less impressive without the jutting hills exploding all around them. This also makes it perfect walking countryside, as you can climb these hills to gain stunning views of the area.

Cute Towns

There are plenty of towns dotted throughout this beautiful national park, with lovely old stone buildings and sweet cafes and shops. Many of these have a fascinating history to them, including plenty of well-known literary links such as Wordsworth.
