Portugal is an exciting European country located at the west of the Iberian Peninsula. It’s bordered by Spain to the east and is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the west. The vast amounts of coastline has influenced the culture throughout history, and it’s an exciting and unique country to explore. Here are three towns to explore while in Portugal.

Azenhas do Mar

Located in the municipality of Sintra this seaside town is one of the most picturesque places you could imagine. Built onto a cliff with quaint white houses with terracotta tiles winding up the steep streets, this gorgeous little town is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the sea breeze.

Amarante

Located in the north of Portugal roughly a one-hour drive from Porto, the architecture and culture is very different from the southern regions. There is a beautiful river running through the town, with lovely colorful old buildings lining the water’s edge and beautiful bridges crossing over, with lovely green trees bringing some freshness to the streets.

Marvão

This incredible town is found in the Portalegre District and is an impressive site to see. Built into the mountains of Parque Natural da Serra de St Mamede, this town sits at 860 meters above sea level and has the most stunning views of the surrounding hills and mountains.
