Berghain is Berlin’s notoriously exclusive nightclub. We’re talking about a club that is so exclusive, people wait in line for two hours only to get turned away at the door without any reason given whatsoever.

A lot of the time, it’s down to luck whether the doormen let you enter. Still, there are certain things you can do to improve your chances. And so, we’ve rounded up advice from Redditors who have made it into the club. Here are the recurring tips that will increase your chances of getting in.

Don’t Try Too Hard

The doormen will know if you are trying too hard. If you look desperate to get in, they’ll know it’s your first time and you are more likely to get turned away.

Dress Edgy (but Comfortably)

The Berghain scene is daring and edgy. Don’t be afraid to dress bold. We’re talking chunky chokers and seethrough shirts. It’s also important that you dress comfortably though. People go to Berghain to rave until the early hours of the morning, not to pose in front of the DJ booth.

Don’t Get There Too Early

Don’t arrive too early. Anytime before 1 AM is considered too keen. Around this time, you will likely have to queue for over an hour. Sometimes, the later you get there, the better your chances of getting in.

Don’t Get Too Drunk

It’s OK to have a couple of drinks before getting in line, but don’t get too sloshed. The doormen will turn you away in a heartbeat.

Know Someone On The Inside

Ultimately though, the only way to guarantee entry is to get on the guestlist. When you are at the door, the bouncers will ask you who you are there to say. Make sure you can name at least one of the DJs or you will get turned away.
