Epic Day Trips You Should Take from Adelaide, Australia

Adelaide is one of the cities everyone should visit while in Australia, but the real magic starts once you take a road trip out of town. Here’s a couple of options to take into consideration when planning a day-trip from the capital of South Australia.

Barossa Valley

Wine lovers will have plenty of places to explore while in Adelaide, but none of them compares to Barossa Valley. Known as Australia’s most famous wine region, Barossa is the perfect place to try delicious new flavors – and you have around 200 wineries to chose from!

Fleurieu Peninsula

If you’re in the mood for an amazing road trip, a ride down the coast to the Fleurieu Peninsula is a must. This journey will provide you with everything your heart desires, from beautiful beaches and charming coastal towns to a bunch of great wineries in McLaren Vale.

Kangaroo Island

Australia’s third-largest island is easily accessible from Adelaide by ferry, just make sure to get up early since it takes around 2.5 hours to get there. It offers everything from wine to wildlife tours, and it’s a true haven for nature lovers.

Kangaroo Island getaway part one 😊 Stokes Bay 🙌🏼 As I shared earlier this week, we decided to spend our anniversary (which we always take a little time out for) down the coast here in South Australia and head out to KI – which was recently hit terribly by bushfires. Even though we decided together to head over in the van, I still managed to surprise Dom (twice!) with some really lovely stays. Near Stokes Bay Beach – surrounded by so much space – we stayed at @stowaway_ki (Its a miracle this place is still standing and couldn’t have loved it more). Driving through some of the devastation was definitely heartbreaking – but there is still so much to see and enjoy here. It’s pretty bloody magnificent actually. And the locals and nature are springing back with resilience and beauty. This is an island that really relies on tourism, so I’m going to encourage you once again to #bookthemout this year 💛🌻 You can get to Kangaroo Island by a ferry (with or without your car) from the end of the Fleurieu Peninsula (where we are based and if you ask me – the best place in the world!). 💛
