Ahh, there’s nothing better than doing some surfing when the mood strikes and the waves are flowing. If you’re a surfer or just somebody who likes to try out fun new things when you travel, here are three cities that you’ll definitely want to check out the surf in.

Lisbon, Portugal

The capital of Portugal has so much to offer from its narrow alleyways, famous Ponte 25 de Abril bridge, bright culture, and delicious food. And that’s all in addition to the surfing you’ll find on the Estoril Coast, where every different type of wave is represented for surfers of all levels.

Taghazout, Morocco

A chilled-out fishing village in southwest Morocco, Taghazout is quickly becoming one of the world’s surf capitals, where the shores get both long-period groundswells and offshore winds. That means that it’s surfable year-round, but you’ll find it most enjoyable from October to March, when surfers from all around the world come to enjoy the perfect waves.

Cape Town, South Africa

One of the newer cities on the surf scene, Cape Town is a melting pot of culture, cuisine, and languages. Plus, it’s surf city year round with the ocean floor picking up a lot of swell. During the winter, expect cold and heavy wave scenery, with smaller and gentler swells in the summer months.
