Out of all the amazing things there are to do in New York City, one of the most popular activities is to go to a Broadway show. If you’re someone who has a deep love for musicals and has never been to Broadway, perhaps you’ve cited it as a reason for visiting Manhattan—and we certainly don’t blame you! However, we’d like to give a small disclaimer about the nature of Broadway shows before you decide to visit. Here’s why they might be a tad different than you think.

Cozy, Not Grand

In big cities such as Los Angeles or London, going to a see a live musical means you’ll be walking into a massive amphitheater. Thus, it may seem logical to think that Broadway, which is the epicenter of live musicals, would have theaters that are just as majestic and grand. But this is actually not really the case.

The truth is that Broadway shows generally boast theaters that are a lot more intimate and cozy. You walk in and feel like you’re in the midst of an incredibly professional-looking community theater. This, however, is the secret to why Broadway shines the way it does. The intimate nature of its theaters is what allows audiences to feel like they’re part of the experience. It may surprise you when you first get there, but in the best way!
