Paraguay is one of the countries in South America that definitely deserve more attention than it’s getting, and if you’re thinking of paying it a visit, these four cities are a must-see.

Asunción

If you can check out a single city during your trip to this country, it should be Asunción. The Paraguayan capital is known by the nickname “The Mother of Cities” because it’s one of the oldest cities in South America, and it also happens to be one of the most affordable capitals to visit.

San Lorenzo

The third most populous city of Paraguay is located in close proximity to Asunción, so it’s a perfect place to visit if you’re in the mood for a road trip.

Luque

Luque is another city in close proximity to Asunción you should check out, especially if you’re a football fan since it happens to be a home of the South American Football Museum.

Ciudad del Este

If you want to check out Iguazú Falls during your trip to Paraguay, and also visit one of the country’s biggest cities along the way, Ciudad del Este is a good place to stay.

There's not a better way to celebrate the 350 days on this trip and 500 posts than a view behind the bars 😜 . After visiting Iguazu Falls on Argentinian side, we had reserved 2 days to spend in Foz do Iguaçu, the city with 260 thousand people on the Brazilian side of the border. On the first day we missed the Brazilian side of the waterfalls, as we only left the hotel in Argentina at 11AM. . On the second day we wanted to visit Paraguay, it's wildest and second largest city Ciudad del Este and the nearby Itaipu hydroelectric dam. As the locals can cross the border and stay on the other side for 24 hours without reporting to immigration, the buses won't even stop at the border, unless there are some tourists on board asking for it. . We had to report to the immigration on both the Brazilian and Paraguayan side, and as you can guess, the bus wouldn't wait for us, so that we could enjoy the border crossing by foot. The left side is Paraguay, and on the right you can see a tiny bit of Brazil. . What has been your weirdest border crossing experience? . . . #visitparaguay #fozdeiguazu #ciudaddeleste #ciudaddelesteparaguay #crossingtheborder #travellingfinns #travelstribe #travelandexplore #thetraveltag #happyadventuring #visualofearth #worldexplorer #travelanddestinations #backpackerstory #meettheworld #beautifullandscape #travelbook #liveyouradventure #iamatraveler
