Amman Citadel is one of Jordan’s most important historical landmarks, and a visit to Amman isn’t complete without it. This historic site has been inhabited by many civilizations over the centuries, and here are the most important structures you should check out during your visit.

Temple of Hercules

This temple is the most significant Roman structure in the Amman Citadel and the main reason why people visit it in the first place. It mostly consists of the columns of an unfinished temple and the mysterious hand of Hercules that visitors find truly fascinating.

La struttura fu costruita tra il 162 ed il 166 d.C., durante il regno di Marco Aurelio e quando Marco Gemino fu il governatore della provincia d'Arabia. Temple of Hercules, Amman, Jordan. The Roman Temple of Hercules is a monument located in the Citadel of Amman in Amman, Jordan. The structure was built between 162 and 166 AD, during the reign of Marcus Aurelius and when Marcus Geminus was the governor of the province of Arabia. The building has a width of about 30 X 24 meters and a portico with six columns of 10 meters high.
