3 Famous Landmarks and Their Twins You Didn’t Know Existed

Some attractions draw in millions of tourists every year and, while we get their appeal, we have to wonder if being at the same place with all those people is truly worth a trip. Luckily, some of the most famous landmarks in the world have nearly identical twins that you can enjoy without any crowds and get a much better look.

Colosseum and Pula Arena

The Pula Arena is basically the Colosseum’s Croatian twin brother. It’s the best-preserved ancient monument in the country and, what’s even more impressive, it’s still used as a venue for performances with up to 20,000 visitors.

Notre-Dame De Paris and Amiens Cathedral

These two gothic cathedrals are both located in France, but guess which one is more popular? Notre-Dame is one of the most visited landmarks thanks to Victor Hugo who wrote a novel about it, but the other one is just as stunning.

Saint Basil’s Cathedral and Church Of The Savior On Blood

There’s a church in Saint Petersburg that looks incredibly similar to the famous Moscow landmark, Saint Basil’s Cathedral, but most people still want to visit the latter and see the Red Square in person. Do the opposite if you want to get the best view.

🇷🇺 From the moment I got there I felt in LOVE with this city. 😍😍😍 The beauty of people, architecture and museums are just so insane! 😳 This picture of the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, ( I know the name is pretty harsh and scary for such a beautiful architecture) and the reflection on the water is just so majestic💙💜 Not only the colorfulness from the outside, inside is quite filled with ravishing colors as well. 📝 Despite the terrifying name, it was built to honor an emperor, Alexander II as a memorial. He was known as a liberator and made so many great changes for the country. Though, he got killed by a terrorist with a grenade at this exact spot. 💣🩸 I will never forget the shock of walking on the street and seeing this for the first time. No wonder it is part of UNESCO heritage along with the whole historic area of Saint Petersburg. 🔖 My time there was definitely not enough and I have been wanting to go back again one day. Especially for the white nights, when the sun never fully sets and the sky remains bright throughout the night with some sunset kind of lights! How crazy is that? 🤍🤍🤍 Hoping to find a way to go back there next year! Have you been to Russia? Which city was your favorite? . . . #russia #saintpetersburg #UNESCO #historiccenter #churchofthesavioronblood #waterreflection #whitenight #onedayiwill #makeit #heartfortravel #♥️
