Malawi is a country in southeastern Africa that’s known as the Warm Heart of Africa for a good reason. It’s located between the Lake Malawi, the third-biggest lake in Africa, and Zambia. It may not be as popular as its neighboring countries, but it has a lot to offer. Here are three incredible things you can see there.

Lilongwe

Lilongwe has been the capital of Malawi since 1975. It consists of two parts: New Town, that’s home to modern office buildings, and Old Town that has charming markets. Both are worth exploring and you can find great accommodation in any part of the city, depending on what you want.

Likoma Island

Located in the middle of Lake Malawi, Likoma Island is a perfect place to go swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and scuba diving! The incredible nature makes the trip worthwhile even if you’re not a fan of water sports.

Mulanje Mountain

If you go south, you can reach Mulanje Mountain. It’s not too far from the second-largest city in the country, Blantyre. The highest peak is called Sapitwa and it sits almost 10,000 feet above the forest, which makes it perfect for hiking trips. Mount Mulanje is popular among hikers and the climb is simply stunning.
