Why You Should Try Dispersed Camping This Summer

Dispersed Camping is usually the term used for camping in National Forests. Many states have federally protected, undeveloped forests meant exclusively for preserving nature and for our enjoyment, including camping.

With international borders shut and many travel restrictions are in place, more and more people are camping out this summer. Instead of trying to book a campsite, why not head out to a national forest and choose your own quiet spot?

While there are certain restrictions on the National Forest website, for the most part, camping is permitted in almost all areas—as long as you are far enough away from the road and there are no signs restricting camping. That gives you lots and lots of options to find the right spot for you!

In addition to being completely free, National Forest camping is usually more secluded and primitive as well. If you’re looking for a quiet night out in nature, this might be the right choice—just make sure to pack all the necessities, as there are no amenities!
