Why Skiing Sugarbush in Northern Vermont is Worth It

Vermont is known for maple syrup, Ben and Jerry’s, and some of the best skiing in the East. It is commonly debated which resort is best, but the combination of a number of trails and the sheer beauty makes Sugarbush one of the best.

Many Vermont mountains such as Mount Snow or Magic Mountain are beautiful as well, but their southern location makes these resorts packed with Bostoners and New Yorkers every weekend. Sugarbush is only a few hours farther but there are far fewer crowds and fair prices.

Mt. Ellen and Lincoln peak make up both sections of the resort. With 111 trails and 16 different lifts, there is plenty of skiing for all levels. It is also known for its untouched tree skiing, one of the best places for natural downhill skiing in the state.

The nearby towns of Warren and Waitsfield provide an authentic Vermont experience. Local eateries, general stores, and the famous Vermont covered bridges make you feel at home in these sleepy, beautiful towns.
