If you eat a plant-based diet, sometimes traveling can become a little difficult depending on where you’re going.

If you know you’re heading to a country that really prioritizes meat and other animal products in their food, you don’t have to worry! There are some easy steps to take to make sure you take care of yourself and stay true to your diet.

Language

One of the best tips for when you’re traveling to a country that doesn’t speak your native tongue is to pick up a few words that can help you out at restaurants.

Learn phrases like without meat, without anything from the animal, etc. so you can try to communicate what you want at restaurants.

If you can’t read the language, take screenshots from google translate and show them to your waiter to read.null

Research

Research is key to eating vegan in a place. Look up and see if there are any vegan or vegetarian restaurants, and if not, try for cuisines like Middle Eastern or Asian where vegan options are normally present.

Grocery Stores

Improvising meals are sometimes the name of the game when it comes to vegan travel. Bring a container with you from home so you can prepare meals before you leave for the day to make sure you’ll have something to eat just in case you don’t find anything suitable.
