Some of us love to lounge around on the beach and stay by the pool all vacation, but if you’re more of an active type, this can quickly get boring. Why not try an active vacation, in which the focus is some sort of exercise or mini adventure for each day you’re away? Check out these three ideas for ways to enjoy an active break.

Pony Trekking

There are some fabulous pony trekking vacations available, even for those who’ve never ridden before. Whether you’re riding through the lowlands of Holland or trotting through the Romanian hills, pony trekking can be a fabulous way to see the scenery of a new country in a fun, active way.

Kayaking Adventure

Kayaking is a great way to get active whilst exploring a new region. Whether you’re paddling down white water rapids in Spain’s Picos mountains, or navigating the Greek shoreline, kayaking in a group is a fun and safe way to enjoy the water. Most kayaking trips offer a few days of training in a safer environment such as a lake or reservoir, before you head out into wilder waters.

Running Holidays

There are some fantastic trail-based running holidays, which will see you jogging along with the rest of your group, while you take in some seriously stunning scenery. Run along the shorelines of Norway’s fjords, jog the circumference of a Scottish island, or take in the awe-inspiring views from an Italian cliffpath run. Most of these vacations offer plenty of rest days, to ensure that you have enough energy to maintain your pace on your active days.
