This October, Visit the Most Haunted Cities in America

Since travel to international destinations isn’t on the cards right now, it’s time to take advantage of all the glory that America has to offer this month! There’s no better time to explore haunted cities than during Halloween month and these cities in America are the most haunted ones. Trust us when we say that they’re not for the faint of heart.

New Orleans, Louisiana

There are dozens of reportedly haunted places in New Orleans which is why it’s one of the country’s most haunted cities. Make sure you visit William Faulkner’s home turned into a bookstore, Faulkner House Books, and don’t be surprised when you feel his spirit. Old Absinthe House, which is haunted by Voodoo practitioner Marie Laveau, Andrew Jackson, and pirate Jean Lafitte, is also a must-see. Lastly, St. Louis Cemetery is a No. 1 paranormal spot that is haunted by tons of ghosts.

Salem, Massachusetts

Best known for the Salem witch trials that resulted in the execution of 19 people, Salem, Massachusetts is still haunted by the ghosts of those killed during the trials. Lyceum Hall (now Turner’s Seafood) and Howard Street Cemetery are particular hot spots.

Washington, D.C.

The capital of the country has its share of ghost stories and the White House happens to be one of the most haunted houses in the U.S. as the spirits of former presidents are said to be living in the house. Among the ghosts who have been spotted are President Lincoln, President William Henry Harrison, and first ladies Dolley Madison and Abigail Adams. Other haunted locations to visit in D.C. include the National Building Museum, the Congressional Cemetery, and official government buildings.
