Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is considered by many to be one of the most breathtakingly beautiful cities in Northern Europe. Full of medieval castle walls, towering church bell towers, cobblestone streets, and beautiful public squares, there is an endless number of sights to see and enjoy. Here are the ones we most recommend.

Old Town

An obvious place to start your tour of Tallinn is with a tour of the Old Town, which features stunning architecture and locals wearing medieval costumes to help you imagine what the Old Town may have been like when it was well, not “old” yet.

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

Another common tourist favorite in Tallinn is the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which is artful and beautiful on the inside and outside, with mind-blowing architecture on display from every angle. Plus, it has free entrance!

Viru Gates

In order to get into Old Town, you can enter through Viru Gate, which was part of Tallinn’s defense system in the fourteenth century. Not the entire gate remains, but the parts that do are still awe-inspiring. Plus, it is surrounded by market stalls selling roasted nuts, woolen mittens, and other fun goodies.
