For pet parents, the idea of leaving their fur babies when they go away can be extremely hard. The good news is that some airlines do permit small animals to travel onboard. So if you’re planning to jet off with your pup, kitty, or another domestic animal, these are the best airlines to take.

Delta Airlines

Delta allows pets on both domestic and international flights, provided that they meet specific age requirements. All pets must be at least 10 weeks old for domestic flights, 16 weeks old for flights to the U.S. from another country, and at least 15 weeks old when flying to destinations in the EU.

Southwest Airlines

Little vaccinated dogs and cats are welcome aboard Southwest, as long as their carrier can fit under the seat in front. Although only one pet is permitted per carrier, two pets of the same breed can be in the same kennel if they are both able to stand up and move around inside.

Frontier Airlines

If you’d like to transport more unusual pets, Frontier is your friend. In addition to dogs and cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and household birds can also accompany passengers in the cabin on domestic flights. Soft-sided carriers are preferred, and food and water cannot be given to your furry friend during the flight, sadly.
