The Imam Reza Shrine is Mashhad’s most mesmerizing attraction, located in the very heart of this city. This vast religious complex has been described as “the heart of the Shia Iran”, and it serves as a resting place of many prominent Iranian clerics and scholars.
Goharshad Mosque
Goharshad Mosque is one of several buildings contained within Imam Reza Shrine. It’s one of the greatest surviving Persian monuments built in the fifteenth century and it will take your breath away with its ornate façade, intricate mosaics, and tower-like minarets.
Daroogheh Historical House
One of Mashhad’s best-hidden secrets is located in close proximity to the Imam Reza Shrine. After extensive renovations, it opened its doors to the public in 2015, and it’s best known for keeping the traditional style of Iranian historical houses alive.
