Whether a keen Egyptianologist or new to the ancient history of Egypt, a trip to Egypt isn’t complete without checking out Egypt’s biggest museum.

It is home to the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts, with over 120,000 ancient items on display. From Tutankhamun’s gold death mask to towering statues, there is a wealth of incredible sights to behold.

The museum was originally built in Cairo in 1901, showcasing hidden treasures. It grew to such an extensive collection that it will now move from Cairo to Giza and become the Grand Egyptian Museum of Giza. The grand opening was planned for this year, but unfortunately, because of COVID-19, it will be delayed until 2021.

The main attraction of the new museum will be the Tutankhamun center. For the first time, you will be able to see Tutankamun’s whole collection in one place, including items never viewed before. Perhaps the most famous Pharaoh in history, the masses of intricate gold designs that celebrated his life, will not disappoint.

Consider paying for a guided tour to learn about the hieroglyphics and ensure you do not miss any of the really important artifacts. The museum will be so big, you might find yourself getting lost if you don’t.

Oh, and don’t forget to visit the pyramids of Giza while you’re there.
