Ireland is an island full of verdant, green beauty, but nothing tops the Cliffs of Moher on the west coast of the country.

This special, unique environment consisting of amazingly high rock cliffs set right on top of the Atlantic Ocean is a sight that no traveler could ever forget.

These sea cliffs tower over the North Atlantic at a height between 390 feet at their lowest point to 702 feet at their highest.

The cliffs are mainly formed of shale and sandstone that have been eroded and shaped by the crushing waves of the sea, as well as wind and rain storms, that have pulverized them over their hundreds of millions of years of existence.

For visitors, there is a welcome center which is included in the entrance fee to the park which includes exhibits about the history of the cliffs as well as presentations about their flora and fauna.

Visitors can also enjoy an 18 kilometer cliff walk that is an excellent way to spend a beautiful Irish day. It is not a difficult trail, but be careful, as the rocks can become slippery on wet days.

Be sure to check out the natural wonders of the Cliffs of Moher if you find yourself traveling to Ireland. You will not regret visiting this magical place.
