When it comes to deciding where to go on vacation, it can be hard to narrow down a destination. If you’re looking to travel to Europe, three of the main countries to visit would be France, Spain, and Germany. If you can’t decide which to visit, read this guide to get a sense of what each country offers.

France

For many people, the first thing that springs to mind is food when they think of France. It is true that the country excels at serving delicious, traditional meals, and if you travel around different regions you will gain an insight into the differences in cooking between different areas of France. However, this country is also known for its stunning coastlines (the north is wild and windswept, the south is warm and a magnet for celebrities). As well as Paris, it offers stunning cities such as Toulouse, Lyon, and Marseilles. There are several mountain ranges, check out the Alps in the east and the Pyrenees in the southwest.

Spain

Spain is a stunning country and is justifiably famous for its beautiful coastlines. Its rolling plains, green hills, and mist-shrouded mountains (especially the Picos in the north) are also well worth visiting, as are the stunning castles and hill forts. Food is just as respected here as it is in France, and the regional differences are also notable – head south for fresh seafood, whilst the north does game meats (such as boar and venison) incredibly well.

Germany

Germany offers some seriously cool city breaks, especially in cities such as Berlin, Munich, and Hamburg. Germany also offers a coastline, although it is far wilder and colder than anything found within France or Spain. Food-wise, Germany specializes in cured meats and cheeses, as well as healthy pickled and fermented foods. Check out the Alps within Bavaria, or the stunning sights along the Rhine River. Cruising down the river is like traveling through a fairy tale!

Europe is one of the most popular and beloved continents to travel in, and yet for some reason most tourists go to the same countries over and over again. And while they are certainly beautiful countries with a lot to offer, so are many of the other more overlooked countries in Europe. So here are just a few that you should know are worth a visit.

Montenegro

A Balkan country on the Adriatic sea bordered by Albania and Serbia, Montenegro is not nearly as popular as it should be for its beautiful mountains, stunning beaches, and thriving local life. It’s small, but mighty, with plenty of history to offer as well as some gorgeous nature.

Faroe Islands

Located in the ocean between Iceland and Norway, the Faroe Islands are blissfully peaceful, missing the crowds of its Nordic neighbors. But they still have so much to offer visitors, like lots of sheep to look at, gorgeous skylines with quaint, painted houses, unbelievable views of volcanic mountains, and stunning waterfalls.

Malta

One of the more overlooked Mediterranean islands, Malta can give you all of the sand, sea, sun, and beaches that Greece and Cyprus can but with a fraction of the tourists.
