When booking a ticket there are so many choicesโ€”do you want economy, premium economy, or economy plus? While there’s a pretty big difference between first-class, business class, and economy, what’s the difference between economy, premium economy, and economy plus?

Economy

This is the standard, main cabin fare. You’re usually permitted one carry-on, you pay for checked bags, and you may get meal service.

Premium Economy

Premium economy is between coach and business class, in regards to price and placement on the airplane. For this upgrade, for a cross-country flight, expect to pay at least $300 more. The seat is between main and business class and it’s often twice the price of economy, but still significantly less than business class. There’s also five to seven inches more legroom than economy, with wider seats and more space for reclining and different meal offerings than the main class cabin, amenity kits, free checked bags, and priority boarding.

Economy Plus

Economy plus is more affordable than premium economy, but it isn’t as luxurious. For a cross-country flight, you’ll usually pay an additional $100 to $300. Economy plus is still part of the main class cabin, but you’ll have a better seat with more legroom. You’ll also be at the front of the main cabin and you may have perks like priority boarding and better meal service.

Airports might generally be seen as a means to an end or a place that you must pass through on your way to travel elsewhere.

More and more airports around the world, however, have begun to establish themselves as worthy attractions of their own due to technological innovations and a focus on traveler satisfaction.

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in Detroit, Michigan has become one of the most attractive airport options in the United States for this very reason.

While you might not expect to find a wealth of interesting things at a medium-sized hub airport in the United States, DTW is full of surprises.

One of the most interesting things about the Detroit Airport is its ExpressTram, a sort of elevated subway system inside the Edward H. McNamara Terminal, the second-longest on Earth. Itโ€™s completely free to ride and a quick way to get from gate to gate, or a fascinating way to kill time during a long layover!

The other curious attraction that draws lots of love for the Detroit Airport is its light tunnel which connects Concourses B and C and Concourse A in the terminal. Here, a fascinating, timed LED light show turns a drab tunnel into a fascinating art attraction that you will be enthralled by.

Be sure to select an itinerary with a layover in Detroit the next time youโ€™re flying if you want to check out one of the coolest airports on Earth!

One of the most thrilling experiences that any traveler can have is using business class or first class when flying to a destination.

For those of us who havenโ€™t had the luxury of flying in an upgraded cabin, the distinction between these two celebrated cabin grades can be hard to gauge. So, what makes them different? Letโ€™s take a look.

First Class

In short, flying first class is a little bit more expensive and nicer than business class. Why? Typically, in first class, your seat will lay flat in order to serve as a bed, and oftentimes your space will be able to be converted into a private โ€œapartment-likeโ€ setting so that you arenโ€™t seen or disturbed by other passengers. Food is typically of world-class quality, with menus designed by world-renowned chefs being common. This is the cream of the crop of the flying experience and usually is only offered on long (6+ hour) flights.

While you can only include one partner airline on a one-way award, this is still quite useful.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐€๐ฅ๐š๐ฌ๐ค๐š ๐Œ๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ โ€œ๐“๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐คโ€โญโฃโฃ โฃโฃ I put โ€œtrickโ€ in quotations since this isnโ€™t really a trick but rather a great way to use a stopover on a one-way ticket. Itโ€™s also forgotten way too often.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ Itโ€™s as simple as this.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ Letโ€™s say you use 50,000 Alaska miles to book a biz class award ticket to Los Angeles from Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ Rather than stopping there, take advantage of the stopover option. If you live somewhere else, take a few days to visit LA.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ If you live in LA – and hereโ€™s the real โ€œtrickโ€ – then stopover in your hometown for a few months before flying somewhere else in the U.S. for a weekend. Maybe a trip to NYC or Chicago.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ Just because you live in LA, doesnโ€™t mean your destination has to be LA. It can easily be included as your stopover city when you book the flight home from Hong Kong.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ So, with 50,000 Alaska miles, you can fly home from Asia, go back to work, then start another trip all on one award ticket.โฃโฃ โฃโฃ ๐…๐ข๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐“๐ก๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌโฃโฃ โฃโฃ Personally, I think other airlines should provide these opportunities. Rather than focusing on cutting benefits, Iโ€™d like to see airlines find ways to create value for their customers with options like this.โฃ โฃ ๐˜๐จ๐ฎ'๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ฐ๐š๐ง๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฌ๐š๐ฏ๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐จ๐ง๐ž ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ.

Business Class

Flying business class is really nice too and is a common alternative to economy class on medium-range and long-range flights. Here, your seat will have extra legroom and youโ€™ll be able to stretch out during the flight. These days, some business class seats lie flat as well and serve as beds. The meals are nice, even restaurant-quality, and you will be waited upon very well by the flight staff.

Do you remember the days of the Concorde aircraft, a revolutionary plane that transported people from New York to Europe and vice versa in a time that averaged around 3 hours and 30 minutes?

While the Concorde might have been taken out of service in the early 2000s, thereโ€™s a new supersonic aircraft currently in development that could bring back the days of super-fast flights.

Boom Supersonic, a startup company in Denver, Colorado in the United States, is currently working towards a passenger supersonic jet which could become the first commercial aircraft of this type in nearly 20 years.

The companyโ€™s final project, known as the Boom Overture, is currently on pace to be rolled out between 2025 and 2027. This plane model is set to hold a capacity of 55 passengers and would reach a maximum velocity of Mach 2.2, or 1430 miles per hour.

The company claims that flights from New York to London would be made in around 3 hours and 15 minutes, while a route from Miami to Santiago, Chile would take 3 hours and 50 minutes. The planeโ€™s fuel capacity would not allow for direct transpacific flights, but with a stop, the long journey between the USโ€™s West Coast and Japan could take around 7 hours.

The program is currently on track to release the Boom XB-1, a small โ€œminiโ€ aircraft which would serve as a stepping stone to the release and development of the Overture, in early 2021. It might seem crazy, but the days of super high-speed flying are on the brink of returning.

As more and more flights begin to be offered as travel restrictions are eased in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, you might be looking at taking a flight in the coming months as part of your vacation.

While airplanes are generally considered a safe traveling method due to the constant air ventilation on-board, there are some things that you should still take into account and research before booking. Here they are.

Cancellation Policy

An airlineโ€™s cancellation policy is a critical thing to be aware of before booking a flight in 2020. If you were to get sick or if new travel restrictions were to be put in place, having the option to get at least a partial refund on the money you paid to fly is a big plus.

Flight Occupancy

Before booking most flights, airlines will offer you the chance to see the current seating situation on your flight. If you see that the flight is going to be close to full, it might be better to skip the one youโ€™re looking at and find one with a little bit more social distance.

The Airlineโ€™s Social Distancing Practices

Related to the previous point, itโ€™s also smart to book with companies with a social distancing plan in place on board before flying. No matter how much the air is ventilated in an airplane cabin, it still isnโ€™t a great idea to sit in a row jammed in with more people than necessary.

Overnight plane travel can be a real drag. Flying is enough of a hassle as it is, but when you travel from continent to continent or on a long intracontinental flight that takes place during overnight hours, itโ€™s way too easy to end up at your destination feeling like a wreck.

Keeping groomed and fresh is a great step towards feeling good after one of these long-haul flights, and here are three toiletry items that you must take with you in order to achieve this.

Travel-Size Toothbrush and Toothpaste

Always keep a travel-sized toothbrush and toothpaste in your carry-on bag. After eating dinner, breakfast, and likely drinking coffee on your flight, you will definitely want to freshen up before landing by brushing your teeth.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CEKopC3B8m8/

Deodorant

While you probably wonโ€™t be able to shower at any point during your travels, you can keep the bad odors away and stay feeling relatively clean if you apply deodorant at least once during your overnight flight.

Face Wash

As mentioned previously, showering is pretty much an impossible task while flying. However, taking a travel-sized bottle of face wash if a great way to feel cleaner upon landing, as you can apply it either in the airplane bathroom or in the terminal once youโ€™ve landed.

Believe it or not, plane travel can be especially dangerous to your health. Things get even worse during wintertime when illnesses such as colds and the flu run rampant in the closed spaces of airplanes.

Here are some strategies that will help you stay healthy while flying.

Get Up and Move

Aside from germs, bacteria, and viruses, one of the main dangers to your health on a plane is a condition called DVT (deep vein thrombosis). These blood clots, which can be fatal if serious, sometimes form during the long periods of time in which people are still on flights. To combat this, raise your legs in your seat or get up and move around every so often on long flights.

Bring Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer is portable, cheap, and a superweapon in the fight against getting sick. Planes are closed spaces in which all kinds of germs get trapped from sick people, so be sure to sanitize your hands with your own personal sanitizer before touching your face or eating.

Take Vitamin Supplements Beforehand

There are many vitamin supplements on the market, including brands such as Airborne and Emergen-C, which give your immune system a boost before flying. Start taking these supplements a few days before your flight to give your body protection against sicknesses.

Traveling on an airplane is a thrill for many reasons.

The experience of flying in the air at 40,000 feet, the strange excitement upon being served a plate of airplane food, and the views outside of your window all contribute to what is a memorable experience.

The experience is even more interesting when youโ€™re on one of these massive jetliners. Here are the four biggest passenger planes on earth and what makes them unique.

Airbus A380-800

The biggest airplane on earth is this monster, which can seat up to 853 passengers. It has two decks and was introduced by Airbus in 2005. Unfortunately, after slow order numbers, production will be halted in 2021.

Boeing 777-300

American company Boeingโ€™s biggest jet has a capacity for up to 550 passengers. Although it only consists of one deck, its wide-body configuration allows for tons of people to fit on board. This is one of the most popular long-haul planes on Earth.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BuEVkXhhsPW/

Boeing 747-400

One of the worldโ€™s most beloved and recognizable planes is the 747. Also made by Boeing, it consists of two decks and its latest version, released in 1988, can fit up to 524 people on board. British Airways is the top operator in the world of this plane.

Airbus A340-600

Rounding out the list is the French companyโ€™s second-largest model, the A340-600. There are 60 of these planes in service in the world, and it is known for providing a comfortable flight with spacious room for travelers.

When booking a ticket there are so many choicesโ€”do you want economy, premium economy, or economy plus? While there’s a pretty big difference between first-class, business class, and economy, what’s the difference between economy, premium economy, and economy plus?

If you utilize air travel frequently, you probably know that the internet makes this method of travel much easier.
