Three Ways to Stay Healthy While Flying

Believe it or not, plane travel can be especially dangerous to your health. Things get even worse during wintertime when illnesses such as colds and the flu run rampant in the closed spaces of airplanes.

Here are some strategies that will help you stay healthy while flying.

Get Up and Move

Aside from germs, bacteria, and viruses, one of the main dangers to your health on a plane is a condition called DVT (deep vein thrombosis). These blood clots, which can be fatal if serious, sometimes form during the long periods of time in which people are still on flights. To combat this, raise your legs in your seat or get up and move around every so often on long flights.

Bring Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer is portable, cheap, and a superweapon in the fight against getting sick. Planes are closed spaces in which all kinds of germs get trapped from sick people, so be sure to sanitize your hands with your own personal sanitizer before touching your face or eating.

Take Vitamin Supplements Beforehand

There are many vitamin supplements on the market, including brands such as Airborne and Emergen-C, which give your immune system a boost before flying. Start taking these supplements a few days before your flight to give your body protection against sicknesses.
