Super Nintendo World to Open on February 4th in Japan

The long-awaited Super Nintendo Land in Osaka will finally open on February 4th, 2021, as announced by Universal Studio Japan. Nintendo previously announced the opening for spring 2021, so this is a little earlier than expected.

One of the main attractions in the park will be a Mario Kart-themed rollercoaster. It’s located inside Bowser’s castle and utilizes AR and projection mapping technology. This allows visitors to completely enjoy the experience like they never could before.

When it comes to Covid-19 measurements, officials claim the park will be safe for visitors and staff. It will start working at 50% capacity at first. Lately, the number of cases in Osaka has been rising but Japan is still avoiding strict lockdown measures, relying instead on contact tracing and mandatory masks.

The new Super Nintendo World will become a model for the theme park industry after a big hit it suffered due to pandemic. The Walt Disney Company recently announced its plans to lay off over 30,000 employees, most of which work in park divisions, so we have yet to see how the theme park industry will come out of this situation.
