Should You Travel by Bicycle?

Bicycles can offer a unique traveling experience. They allow a different form of travel from cars, airplanes, and buses. But traveling by bicycle is not for everyone. Here are some of the key advantages and disadvantages you can expect from a bicycle adventure.

Freedom

Traveling by bicycle can give you much more freedom than traveling by car, motorbike, or bus. You can travel where you want, both on and off-road. You don’t have to be confined to where the well-worn road takes you. Your imagination is the only limit.

Control

When you travel by bicycle, you are in complete control of your movements. You can decide where to go, when to go and when to stop.

Adventure

Bicycles allow you to venture off of the beaten track. Go exploring in the woods, forests, fields, and country landscapes.

Time

Bicycles give you time to look around you and soak in the views.

Slow

One downside is that you can’t travel as far as you could by car, motorbike or bus. You will have to move much slower. While this can give you more time to explore, it’s not ideal if you want to get more miles behind you.

Tiring

Bicycles can be very tiring. If you sustain an injury, this can be a real problem for getting around.

Harder to Reach Hotels

It can also be harder to reach a safe hotel before the sun goes down. If you can’t make it, this might mean you have to travel on the road in the dark, which can be dangerous.
