Most people visit Luxor for the Valley of the Kings, but the list of ancient sites you can explore here is pretty much never-ending. The Karnak Temple Complex is one of the top attractions in this Egyptian city, and here are a few of its main landmarks you should check out during your visit.
Precinct of Amun-Re
The vast majority of Karnak’s top attractions can be found inside the Precinct of Amun-Re. It’s home to the Temple of Amun, the largest temple on Karnak’s grounds, and many other imposing structures and monuments, including the Great Hypostyle Hall and Temple of Ramesses III.
Mut Temple
The main attraction of the Precinct of Mut, this temple is dedicated to the Egyptian mother goddess and wife of Amun-Re. It’s surrounded by numerous smaller temples and it’s home to several different types of female figurines that have been excavated over the years.
Sacred Lake
In addition to countless temples, chapels, pylons, and other ancient structures, Karnak has one natural miracle on its grounds. The sacred lake known by the name Isheru is located near Mut Temple and it offers beautiful views at the Precinct of Amun-Re.
