How to Make Flying on Budget Airlines More Bearable

As anyone who’s ever had the pleasure of traveling on budget airlines knows, it can be a hassle to simply get from one destination to another because of their restrictions. Here are some tips on how to avoid stress and make your trips more bearable.

Only Bring the Essentials

It’s necessary to pack light and economize when traveling only with carry-on items. Keep in mind some things that we often bring on trips that aren’t truly essential, such as:

  • Toiletries: Many times, it’s easier and cheaper to just buy travel-sized essentials like toothpaste at your destination.
  • Electronics: Do you really need your iPad and your laptop? Choose one, or better yet, just leave it at home. Books are smaller and their batteries never run out!
  • Clothes: You probably won’t need as much as you’ve packed. Bring one pair of shoes and one jacket.

Bring Food and a Water Bottle With You

A grocery bag full of snacks won’t count against your baggage allowance, and it’ll be cheaper than buying food onboard. You can get a sandwich, chips, and fruit at a grocery store for less than you’d pay for a drink on a plane. Just fill up the water bottle after security and before boarding!

Dress Comfortably

Traveling isn’t a fashion show. Since budget airlines often have small, cramped seats, it’s in your best interest to make yourself feel as comfortable as possible by wearing loose-fitting, breathable clothes and comfy shoes. It’ll help you feel more relaxed as you wait for your flight and sit on the plane.
