How to Choose Over-Night Camping Equipment

What could be better than sleeping under a starry sky, waking up in the morning by a lake or a creek, and spending the day hiking or reading a book in a hammock? No hotel can match the direct proximity to nature provided by camping. To get the most out of the experience, though, you should be prepared and equipped with everything you need for a night in the wild.

Tent

The most basic equipment you need for camping is of course the tent where you will spend the night. Unless you and your partner are interested in dense intimacy, it is always best to choose a tent designed for at least one person more than your group size.

Sleeping Bag

The sleeping bag should be chosen depending on the location, season, and nature of the trip. Consider the weight of the sleeping bag, and whether you will have to carry it on your back or in a car.

Some travelers prefer to sleep on a mattress instead of in a sleeping bag, especially on hot summer nights. In this case, it is recommended to choose a space mattress, easy to carry and fold.
