Mysterious medieval castles are the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions Romania, but the natural landscapes of this country are equally breathtaking. Here’s a couple of beautiful lakes you should see if you ever pay it a visit.

Lake Tarnița

Cluj-Napoca is one of the most popular cities with tourists visiting Romania, and you should make sure to plan a day trip to this beautiful lake while you’re there.

Red Lake

Red Lake was formed in a natural dam after a devastating earthquake in 1838. It became extremely popular with locals and tourists alike, thanks to its pleasant microclimate, fresh air, and wind-free environment.

Lake Vidraru

Vidraru is an artificial lake on the Argeș River, but that doesn’t take away from its beauty. Its picturesque mountain setting in the shadow of the Fagaraș Mountains, known as the Transylvanian Alps, makes it worth the visit.

Bâlea Lake

Bâlea Lake is also located on the slopes of the Fagaraș Mountains, and it’s one of Romania’s most popular natural landmarks. Several rustic chalets are located near the lake, and so is the first ice hotel in Eastern Europe.
