Hallstatt, Austria is a Winter Paradise In The Alps

Deep inside the Austrian Alps, you can find the tiny city of Hallstatt.

Hallstatt is such a beautiful and magical place; we imagine Cinderella spending her winter holiday here – it’s straight out of a fairy tale!

One of the biggest attractions is more than 7,000 years old salt mines.

After you’ve reached your sodium intake for the day you can go skiing, ice-skating, boating, hiking, fishing, or you can visit The Bone House and Cemetery (yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like).

We are not just going to casually mention winter sports here because the village of Hallstatt comes alive in winter. The hilltop of Dachstein Mountain has great downhill runs for Alpine skiing and snowboarding 5,000 feet above the valley below. If you want a more relaxed winter holiday you can enjoy the stunning views from the base of the mountains and the frozen Lake Gosau.

Good wine, smelly cheese, and milk chocolate are everywhere you look in Hallstatt, so be sure that you won’t go hungry even though the village is tiny and there aren’t a lot of supermarkets around.

If you want to have the perfect winter holiday this place is worth every penny.
