The hilltop of Dachstein Mountain has great downhill runs for Alpine skiing and snowboarding 5,000 feet above the valley below. If you want a more relaxed winter holiday you can enjoy the stunning views from the base of the mountains and the frozen Lake Gosau.
Good wine, smelly cheese, and milk chocolate are everywhere you look in Hallstatt, so be sure that you won’t go hungry even though the village is tiny and there aren’t a lot of supermarkets around.
